An evening in Reykjavík

Downtown Reykjavík · 18:00–22:35

No car needed: a walk from Hallgrímskirkja down through the old town, with an aperitif, a proper Icelandic dinner, a cocktail and a nightcap at a bar that pours Icelandic spirits.

1. 18:00 Hallgrímskirkja – Start at the church tower for the view over the colourful roofs (the tower closes in the evening – check times).
2. 18:40 Aperitif – Veður – A cosy cocktail bar on Klapparstígur – ask for a drink with Icelandic gin.
3. 19:35 Dinner – Grillmarkaðurinn – Icelandic lamb, fish and produce from local farms cooked over the grill. Alternatives: Fiskfélagið or Matarkjallarinn.
4. 21:25 Cocktail – The Jungle – Inventive cocktails in a lush, dark bar on Austurstræti.
5. 22:35 Nightcap – Íslenski barinn – End with an Icelandic spirit – a local gin, vodka or liqueur – before heading back to the hotel.
